Fraser Valley Writers Festival 2026: Free, Book Tickets
Short answer
The Fraser Valley Writers Festival at UFV Abbotsford, Thursday Nov 5 to Saturday Nov 7, 2026, is free to attend. The catch is that you still need a ticket for each event you want to go to, booked through Eventbrite.

The one thing to sort out
Admission costs nothing. The festival's own page says so. But it also says you will need a ticket for each event you choose to attend, and the tickets are separate for each keynote, panel, workshop and podcast recording. The community open mic has its own sign-up too.
Everything is booked through Eventbrite, and you can find the links on the festival website at fvwritersfestival.com. If you want a workshop and a panel on Saturday, that is two tickets. Donations are optional.
What is on
Thursday, Nov 5 - 4:00 PM: Community Open Mic
Friday, Nov 6 - 7:00 PM: Keynotes with Dr. Jody Wilson-Raybould and Justin McElroy
Saturday, Nov 7 - 10:00 AM: Workshops with Elizabeth Bachinsky, Kevin Spenst and Daniel Zomparelli, plus a live recording of the Page Fright podcast - 11:15 AM: Panel 1, "Lies" - 1:30 PM: Workshops with Dina Del Bucchia, Dr. Keiko Honda and Jónína Kirton, plus another live Page Fright recording - 2:45 PM: Panel 2, "Truth"
The festival describes itself as a three-day literary festival. The visiting writers each write a new piece and debut it there, and those pieces go into the Festival Magazine afterwards.
Where to go
It is on the Abbotsford campus of the University of the Fraser Valley, at 33844 King Road. The keynotes and panels are in the theatre, Room B101, in building B. The workshops and the podcast recordings are in building B as well.
If you park in Lot 1, 2 or 2a, walk past the main entrance of building B, turn left into the hallway and keep going straight through the double doors.
The festival's pages do not list parking fees or rules, so check the UFV website before you go.
